At Optiqueye, serving Missouri City, TX, and the nearby region, we provide contact lens exams. If you're looking to get contacts, you've come to the right place.
An Eye Exam for Contact Lenses
The purpose of a contact lens exam is to optimize your vision through the use of contacts. During the first part of your visit, for this reason, we provide you with a vision screening to determine if you have a vision deficit and the extent of it.
Our optometrist will help you figure out the severity of your vision deficit and what prescription you need for your contact lenses. Throughout this part of the exam, we'll also see if you have astigmatism. This is a problem with your eye that causes blurry vision, sometimes both up close and far away.
Contact Lens Fitting
The next part of your eye exam consists of a contact lens fitting. This is when our eye doctor decides which size of contacts is right for you. For this part of the exam, we will take measurements to analyze your eyes and determines their dimensions.
Finding a Brand and Going Over Safety
Based on all the information we acquired for these two aspects of your appointment, we can help determine the best contact lens brand for you.
If this is your first-time getting contacts, we'll also go over safety precautions, like how to put them in your eye properly and how to care for them, such as if they're extended wear, you may need to soak them in a solution overnight. We'll tell you how often you need to change the solution to prevent infection.
It is important that the contact lenses you wear fit your prescription. If you ty using another person’s contacts, or contacts that are not specific to your eyes, even if they are clean, you can end up damaging your cornea. This can be painful and cause a number of issues. It is also possible for your prescription to change over time so come in and get regular eye exams to help keep your prescription current.
